The Montalban, We Choose Art and Shoebox PR are pleased to present We Choose Art | A Feminist Perspective, a group show hosted by guest curators Baha Danesh from We Choose Art and Kristine Schomaker of Shoebox PR.

Following We Choose Art’s philosophy of creating a collaborative community of artistic expression, this unique exhibition continues to document the vibrant, creative culture of feminist artists working today.

Curators Baha Danesh and Kristine Schomaker have created a three week pop-up exhibition to expand on today’s modern feminists. They chose both male and female artists whose work continues the feminist dialogue of equality for all. The work presented spans over 40 years with a diversity of artists working in the Los Angeles area. The featured artists are showing works that deal with concepts of race, class, culture, politics, social commentary and representation of women.

Participating artists include:

Anna Stump, Antoinette Adams, April Bey, Baha Danesh, Dani Dodge, David Estrada, Hilda Rios, Isabella Kelly-Ramirez, J Michael Walker, Jane Szabo, Katherine Rohrbacher, Kathi Flood, Kristine Schomaker, Nancy Worthington, Rachel Kaster, Rikki Niehaus, Snezana Saraswati Petrovic, Wyatt Mills and poetry readings by the WOMEN group.

The Montalban Theatre, built in 1926, provides a special window into the entire entertainment business and the performing arts in Los Angeles. They provide young people with a place to learn and practice the skills necessary for a successful career in the performing arts.
