Drawing “SMOKE 2024”, inside panels for a triptych, 6ft10″x20ft, charcoal and graphite on paper
Laurie Lipton Los Angeles, CA Age 70
What keeps you excited in the studio? the simple act of drawing/ being allowed to draw all day, every day.
Looking back at your trajectory as an artist, how would you say your work has developed? It has gotten much much (much) more powerful.
What role do you think the artist has in today’s society? The arts are the soul of mankind, in today’s society and since the beginning of time.
What’s the most important advice you could give to an aspiring artist? Keep doing your art no matter what.
Does age matter in art? Why or why not? Yes… the more you’ve worked at your craft, the better you are at doing what you do.
What can we look forward to from you next? A fabulous show in some museum or gallery.
Is there anything else you would like to share about being an artist later in life? Just enjoy yourself. Art is bliss, not work.
