What keeps you excited in the studio? Creation and the manifestation into reality of ideas and sketches both completely unplanned or as they evolve from my soul.

Looking back at your trajectory as an artist, how would you say your work has developed? Experimenting full circle back to the drawing board ! Drawing since I could hold a pencil – painting copying masters or from nature the greatest master, back to drafting , designing concepts and solving spatial puzzles , drafting and rendering spaces, back to painting en plein aire, or nature mort , building models, creating sculptures , and going abstract – but I suppressed my own need to express as I responded to friends and family needs. If I can release fears I can create much more ! I’d like to make larger public sculptures and experiences – similar to my Las Vegas arches or themed entertainment experience!

What role do you think the artist has in today’s society? To express what we feel without hatred but to bring people together uniting them in this gift of life and everyone has their own unique voice – inspiring people to create and to connect with their own voice!

What’s the most important advice you could give to an aspiring artist? Don’t give up ! Don’t be afraid to express and ignore all judgement – keep creating – we all have our influences – in any culture the dialogue between the present past and future we exchange each ideas for the benefit of humanity – allow yourself a sacred space to create and start the dialogue!

Does age matter in art? Why or why not? No ! Obviously children’s doodles are the truest art form as they are complete truth and come from the heart – but Matisse s cutouts resonate with any age ! With experience the wonder and play continues but with new stories.

What can we look forward to from you next? Sculptural paintings as I try to bring all the disciplines that I like together to create an experience of light and theater!

Is there anything else you would like to share about being an artist later in life? As I never attended art school I have different experiences and self made expectations I’d like to fulfill – most important I let my heart be my leading light showing me the way – trust in your intuition and let it guide your unique passion and purpose – this is the biggest honor to bring your life to true grace!

Here are some quotes by Georgia o’Keefe- . “My painting is what I have to give back to the world for what the world gives to me.” . “I know now that most people are so closely concerned with themselves that they are not aware of their own individuality. I can see myself, and it has helped me to say what I want to say—in paint.”
