“I am awed by the vast intricacies of world we live in. With a fuzzy and ever-shifting boundary between what is known and unknown, our limited understanding of life is constantly in flux. Phenomena that were once considered inexplicable or magical are continually redefined by scientific discovery. Creative and innovative thinking pushes the boundaries of what exists and what is accepted. Over time, perceptions are altered, the collective consciousness expands, and paradigms shift as we begin to think about the world in new ways. All of this combines with the complex ways in which we internally create our own notions of reality based on perceptions, beliefs, and filters.
In my artwork, I seek to express the sense of wonder that I experience when contemplating the fluid nature of reality. I am interested in representing the relationship between the known and unknown, the visible and invisible, the tangible and intangible. In my current installations, trompe l’oeil illusions and sculptural acrylic paintings work in conjunction with actual light and shadow to play with the perceptions of the viewer. The installations serve as a metaphor for the journey of our personal and shared life experiences. Ultimately, I seek to create lavish, otherworldly environments that reflect the infinite beauty and mysteries of life.”
